VW 1238, VAG 1238/1, VAG 1238/B, VAG 1869, US1116 or equivalent brake fluid filling and bleeding system

WARNING!

Brake fluid is poisonous. Do not ingest brake fluid. Wash thoroughly with soap and water if brake fluid comes into contact with skin.

CAUTION!

Use only new brake fluid conforming to US Standard FMVSS 116 DOT 4. Genuine VW/Audi brake fluid conforms to this specification.

Do not let brake fluid come into contact with paintwork.

Brake fluid absorbs moisture from the surrounding air and should always be stored in airtight containers.

Notes:

Do not extract brake fluid from the brake system with an extraction bottle. A strainer in the brake fluid reservoir prevents the tube of the extraction bottle being inserted sufficiently.



-Connect brake filling and bleeding appliance to brake fluid reservoir. Use adapter - 1 - with seal - 2 - and connector - 3 - .

-Install brake pedal depressor between driver's seat and brake pedal.

-Place vent hose of brake fluid collector container onto bleeder screw of clutch slave cylinder.

-Open bleeder screw of clutch slave cylinder and drain approx. 100 cm3 of brake fluid. Close bleeder screw.

-Switch on brake filling and bleeding appliance.

-Place vent hose of brake fluid collector container ontobleeder screws of brake cylinders / brake calipers in turn according to table below.

-Open bleeder screws and allow appropriate quantity ofbrake fluid to drain out. Used brake fluid is forced out of system by pumping in fresh fluid.

Bleeding sequence


-Remove connections from brake fluid reservoir.

-Remove brake pedal depressor.

-Check pedal pressure and brake pedal free play.

Brake pedal free play: max. 1/3 of pedal travel
